PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic irradiation apparatus capable of emitting ultrasonic waves properly in a suitable and almost uniform focal size by an almost uniform focal energy regardless of a focal distance. SOLUTION: The focus of irradiation ultrasonic waves is rotated by controlling the phase of the waveform of a drive signal supplied to an ultrasonic wave generation element group 111. Concretely, phase modulation is applied to each of drive signal waveforms corresponding to the position of the ultrasonic wave generation element group 111 and the focal position of ultrasonic waves to be formed in a specimen P.
