<p>A cricket bat comprises an elongate handle and a truncated blade having a large hitting sweet spot. The blade comprises a front non-splice or spliced playing face the majority of which is substantially planar across its face, an opposing rear surface and sides extending between the front face and rear surface. The bat has a blade which is reduced in size by the removal of the majority of the blade along and below the handle and shoulders on both sides as compared to a standard bat. Preferably, the blade is reduced in length by 25-35% compared to a standard bat. The mass of the wood from the removed shoulder sections can be added to the rear of the blade to give the larger sweet spot. The bat may be symmetrical about a central plane. The rear surface of the bat may have depressions with at least some of the mass removed from these areas used to either enlarge the sweet-spot or change the centre of gravity of the bat.</p> |
