A mobile terminal and a current time setup method therefor are provided to set a present time automatically without a user's separate setup by using a broadcasting signal after power of an asynchronous terminal is driven. A broadcasting receiver(110) receives a broadcasting signal. When power of a terminal is on, a controller(160) receives the broadcasting signal by driving the broadcasting receiver, and obtains the current time from the received broadcasting signal to set the obtained time to a time of the terminal. The controller obtains the current time from a transport stream payload of the broadcasting signal.
