A method of manufacturing an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to shift an alignment distorting region to a light-blocking region to improve the contrast and picture quality of the LCD and secure a wide process window. A spacer(20) is formed in a light-blocking region(BA) defined by a black matrix formed on one of first and second substrates. An alignment film is formed on one of the first and second substrates. The alignment film is rubbed in a distortion region compensation rubbing(CRD) which is tilted to the light-blocking region such that an alignment distortion region(DA) is overlapped with the light-blocking region. The first and second substrates are bonded to each other having the spacer and the alignment film disposed on the inner sides of the substrates. A ferroelectric liquid crystal layer is interposed between the two substrates and sealed up. |
