After agglomeration in a rotating or shaft furnace flux can be briquetted with addition of organic and/or mineral compounds and with or without additional introducing of alumina containing material. Flux is introduced into a converter before and/or after metal scrap charging. Flux is introduced into a converter before beginning and/or in the process of metal refining with oxygen.
