PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable suitable heating/heat removal of/from a pressure roller in the fusing device of an electrophotographic copying machine. SOLUTION: A rotatable pressure roller 210 is formed by a cylindrical sleeve 212 and end closing members 233 and 235 of the cylindrical sleeve 212 and is provided a hollow part 220, and a vortex tube assembly 230 which simultaneously generates a high-temperature air flow 232 and a low-temperature air flow 234 is provided, and they are connected by a control means 260, for example, three-way control valves 264 and 266. The control means 260 variably controls the temperature of an outer surface 216 of the sleeve 212 constituting the pressure roller 210 by causing the high-temperature air flow 232 and the low-temperature air flow 234 generated by the vortex tube assembly 230 to freely flow into the hollow part 220 of the pressure roller 210 from its separate ends 222 and 224.
