<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that using a reference marker in a CT scanner a real position of a patient is not accurately registered in a reference frame of a robot or does not agree with an image before and the processing technique required for registering a patient in a reference frame of a robot is complex and requires time. <P>SOLUTION: A system for assisting in work carried out on a workpiece and having a frame of reference is provided. The system comprises: a referencing arrangement to register the position of a first location in the frame of reference; a tool holder for holding a tool to assist with the work, the position of the tool holder being known within the frame of reference of the system; a data interface to receive image data relating to the workpiece, the image data representing an image which is indexed by position relative to the first location; and a processing arrangement to register the image data within the frame of reference of the system by utilizing the relative position of the image represented by the image data with respect to the first location and the position of the first location in the frame of reference of the system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
