PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in a battery equipped with an electrode group formed by winding a positive electrode and a negative electrode through a separator and an organic electrolyte, a uniaxial oriented separator is easily ruptured in one direction due to a peculiarity in its manufacturing method, and accordingly, if mechanical pressure is applied to the battery, the separator is ruptured together with a positive electrode core material in the vicinity of the winding start of the electrode group, and is internally short-circuited locally to the negative electrode. SOLUTION: In this organic electrolyte battery equipped with the electrode group formed by winding the positive electrode and the negative electrode through the separator, the uniaxial oriented separator wound over the entire periphery of the electrode group is provided, and a biaxial oriented separator is provided adjacently to the uniaxial oriented separator from a point where a negative electrode end part faces the positive electrode in the center part of the electrode group at least to a point reached after making a round, and thereby, strength against mechanical pressure to the battery is reinforced to suppress local and internal short-circuiting caused by rupture of the separators in the winding start portion of the electrode group.
