The method involves extending the durability of a rolling lobe of an air spring. The average temperature of the rolling lobe wall (2.1) is limited to a maximum temperature (Tx) value which dose not damage the rolling lobe wall. The average temperature of the rolling lobe wall is reduced by cooling, so that the average temperature is less that the maximum value. The rolling lobe wall is cooled by the inner air surrounded by the rolling lobe. The temperature of the inner air is reduced by addition of compressed air of comparatively low temperature. An independent claim is also included for an air spring arrangement for the implementation of the method.
