<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion member having improved drainage performance. <P>SOLUTION: This gas diffusion member is formed by two metal plates in which a plurality of through holes 14 are formed, which are brought into surface contact with each other along the passing direction of the through holes 14, and which are multilayer laminated lath metals 10 having capillary tubes 12 between metal-metal interfaces formed by surface contact.
