PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder which can suppress the generation of irregular prints by mitigating an impact accompanied by the starting of the draw-out of a roll paper. SOLUTION: The paper feeder is equipped with a roll paper setting section 12 which is opened upward to keep a roll paper 13 thrown in and stored. The roll paper setting section 12 has a first roll paper receiving wall 14 and a second roll paper receiving wall 15 rotatably supporting the roll paper 13 drawn out of the setting section and printed. The first roll paper receiving wall 14 is provided so that a contact force of the roll paper 13 to the roll paper receiving wall 14 accompanied by the draw-out of the roll paper 13 becomes larger than a stopped state. The second roll paper receiving wall 15 is provided so that the contact force of the roll paper 13 to the roll paper receiving wall 15 accompanied by the draw-out of the roll paper 13 becomes smaller than the stopped state. The friction coefficient between the roll paper receiving wall 14 and the roll paper 13 slidingly contacting with the wall is made smaller than the friction coefficient between the roll paper receiving wall 15 and the roll paper 13 slidingly contacting with the wall.
