The invention relates to a digital identification system for network operating environments, such as the Internet and similar, in which data are transmitted and/or transactions are carried out.The inventive system comprises the obligatory pre-registering of all of the users in a central digital data file of the network, consisting in recording the user's personal data, fingerprints and at least one digital image, assigning each user an alphanumeric personal identification code and issuing a digital identification card for same. The aforementioned registration is performed by means of distributed centres which are suitably interconnected with the central data file. According to the invention, all of the access points or devices operating in the network are equipped with data and fingerprint readers in order to (i) allow access or use associated with the identification of the user, by first comparing said data and fingerprints with those stored in the central data file, or (ii) prevent same in the opposite case.
