PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, transmission/reception data processing method and transmitting/receiving data processing program for easily dealing with a plurality of security levels and easily revising a security means. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus which can be connected to a network. In the image processing apparatus, a security means 111 for encrypting transmission data to be transmitted to the network or for decrypting reception data to be received from the network is stored in an external recording medium. The image processing apparatus includes a connection means that can be connected to the recording medium, and a security control means 49 which determines whether or not the recording medium is being connected, and allows the security means 111 stored on the recording medium to encrypt the transmission data or to decrypt the reception data when it is determined that the recording medium is being connected.
