A method for processing and transmitting data based upon sequences of characters associates predetermined symbols of a predetermined type with predetermined sequences of characters, displays such symbols and ensures that such symbols are selected by a player, the symbols being converted into corresponding characters, transmitted towards a centralised receiver body and compared with an drawn sequence of characters so as to work out whether the selected characters and those drawn, to generate a response towards the player. The invention also concerns a system for processing and transmitting data based upon sequences of characters in support of the method described above.
