PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend flexibility in adjustment and design of reactivity characteristics by using a fuel pellet containing Gd of a new type to control the initial Gd reactivity and reactivity service life, and to provide a fuel assembly having more preferable reactivity characteristics. SOLUTION: The gadolinia dispersion fuel pellet with a large particle size is formed by dispersing and mixing the gadolinia or a mixture having the gadolinia as the main component with the particle size of 300 to 1,000μm into a uranium fuel or a uranium-plutonium mixture oxide fuel, and a fuel rod and a fuel assembly are constituted using the fuel pellet.
