<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in taking light out of a light emitting diode and to widen directivity, for improved uniformity of light in radiation plane and better color mixture. <P>SOLUTION: A luminaire comprises a plurality of sealing structures 10 in which a light emitting diode 1 is sealed with a high refractive index transparent material 2, and the high refractive index transparent material 2 is sealed with a low refractive index transparent material 3. H>(L/2)/tanäsin<SP>-1</SP>(n<SB>2</SB>/n<SB>1</SB>)} is established to widen directivity of the light from the light emitting diode 1, where H is thickness of the high refractive index transparent material 2 at the center of the light emitting diode 1, L is length of one side of the upper surface of the light emitting diode 1, n<SB>1</SB>is refractive index of the high refractive index transparent material 2, and n<SB>2</SB>is refractive index of the low refractive index transparent material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
