PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position managing system capable of easily managing the position of an article which is frequently moved like a container in an airport. SOLUTION: The position managing system comprises an ID (IDentification) tag attached to a managed article which is a target of position management and holding individual information of the managed article, and a plurality of moving elements obtaining the individual information from the ID tag. The moving element is equipped with an ID reading means obtaining the individual information from the ID tag, and a position measuring means measuring a self-position. According to the individual information of the managed article obtained when entering a communication possible area of the ID tag, and the self-position when the individual information is obtained, the position management of the managed article is carried out.
