MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium equipped with magnetic dots in which switching field dispersion is reduced, and also provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is provided with; a base board; a plurality of magnetic dots which are formed on the base board and the areas of whose lower part surfaces are different from the areas of the upper part surfaces corresponding to the lower part surfaces, the lower part surfaces contacting the base board; and a nonmagnetic body area which is formed on the base board and separates the magnetic dots among the magnetic dots. The manufacturing method of the magnetic recording medium includes; a process which forms a mold layer on the base board; a pattern-forming process which forms patterns for forming spaces, whose lower part surface areas are different from the upper part surface areas corresponding to the lower part surfaces; and a process which fills the spaces with a magnetic body material to form the magnetic dots.
