PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs of a system for reproducing contents, capable of obtaining and displaying content information from an external server, and to improve convenience in an environment that it can not be connected to the server. SOLUTION: In a content information acquisition card 120 detachably connected to a host device 110 for reproducing contents, and to a CDDB server 300 via Internet 200, a content information control circuit 123 receives content identification information from the host device 110, transmits the received content identification information to the CDDB server 300, receives content information corresponding to the transmitted content identification information from the CDDB server 300, and stores the combination of the content identification information received from the host device 110 and the corresponding content information received from the CDDB server 300 in a content information memory 125.
