PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of decreasing degradation in optical performance and obtaining a high quality image in a configuration for bringing light into a wide angle. SOLUTION: The projector includes: an aspherical mirror 14 that is a wide-angle optical element for bringing light corresponding to an image signal into a wide angle; a temperature detecting section that detects the temperature of the wide-angle optical element or the periphery of the wide-angle optical element; and a temperature adjustment section that adjust the temperature of the wide-angle optical element or the periphery of the wide-angle optical element based on the result of the detection by the temperature detecting section.
