PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the quantity of data efficiently regardless of the appearance distribution of color in vectorization processing of image. SOLUTION: An image processing method in an image processor for vectorizing an image comprises a step for dividing the image into pixel regions of similar feature amount, a step for extracting the region to which pixels located on the outer circumference of the image belong as a background candidate region (step S901), a step for comparing the quantity of data when the background candidate regions are vectorized (step S904, 905), and a step for judging a background candidate region having a largest quantity of data as a result of comparison as the background region (step S906).
