PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a bearing unit capable of easily forming a plurality of holes at low costs without deteriorating strength of a hub flange. SOLUTION: A bearing unit comprises a static ring (an outer ring) 2 fixed to a vehicle body and maintained in the non-rotation condition in usual and a rotating ring (an inner ring) 4 provided opposite to the static ring and connected to a wheel so as to be rotated with the wheel. The rotating ring is provided with a flange (a hub flange 12f) for fitting structuring parts such as a brake rotor and a disk wheel structuring the vehicle body, and the flange is dotted with a plurality of holes (bolt holes 12h) passing through the flange. In this method of manufacturing a bearing unit, each hole is formed by punching one part of the flange from a vehicle body side S2 to a wheel side S1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
