A cyclical-transmission-schedule reservation technique is provided to reduce a switching standby time between a data input to a device and a data output from a device with selected sub-channels. A frame(100) includes a plurality of sub-channels in the form of time slots(110). Each time slot includes a slot header(112) including an identifier for a transmitter and a total amount of data, a context packet(114) including information about a data flow, and one or more data packets(116) that can be transferred to a plurality of devices. Devices are configured to communicate with each other in the time order of frames. The devices select sub-channels to be reserved based on the closest neighbor spacing between the sub-channels. The devices dynamically reserve the selected sub-channels at every frame up to the maximum N frames.
