A hermetic compressor having a balance weight is provided to effectively reduce a leakage of oil by preventing scattering of oil due to a balance weight when the balance weight rotates, by forming circular inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the balance weight and putting eccentric weight in an inner space. A hermetic compressor includes a casing having a sealed inner space, an electric motor unit installed in the inner space of the casing and consisting of a stator(12) and a rotator to generate torque, a compressing unit driven by the torque of the electric motor unit for compressing refrigerant, and balance weights(14,15) installed at the rotator of the electric motor unit, having eccentric weight corresponding to an eccentric load of the electric motor unit or the compressing unit, wherein each balance weight has an inner space consisting of an inner periphery(15a), an outer periphery(15b), and a cover(15c), has eccentric weight(15d) at a place opposite to the inner space, and has at least one or more rib(15e) in the inner space. |
