<p>A wood cutting and chopping device has a chopping device (9) for tree trunks and branches (8) and a discharge device (3) for discharging chopped wood material (8A) and a drive device (6) with several drive sets for driving the chopping and cutting device (9) and/or discharge device (3). A drying appliance (10) used with the discharge device (3) utilizes the thermal energy from the drive device (6) for drying the chopped wood material (8A).
