An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to have no color shift or to reduce the color shift in case of a slant observation when displaying the black color. An LCD comprises a liquid crystal cell(LC). Polarizing panels(P1,P2) are arranged at the outside of the liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal cell has a pair of substrates(1,3) oppositely arranged to each other and having an electrode at a side thereof. A liquid crystal layer(5) is interposed between the substrates. The liquid crystal cell includes at least three pixel areas. Color filters are arranged on the three pixel areas and have the selectivity of the wavelength according to the transmission ratio. In the color filters formed at each pixel area, the main wavelength having the maximum transmission ratio is expressed by lambda 1, lambda 2 and lambda 3 at a rising order. The thickness of the liquid crystal layer at each pixel area is expressed by d1, d2 and d3 sequentially, where d2<d3. The LCD comprises also the first optical anisotropic layer and the second optical anisotropic layer having at least one optical shaft within a surface. |
