An underwater pump is provided to suck high viscosity materials, such as industrial sludge, as well as fluid easily by a spiral impeller, and to transfer foreign materials smoothly without blocking by crushing the foreign materials in two steps. An underwater pump comprises a hollow housing(40) spaced by a support from the bottom and including an inlet(20) formed at the center of the bottom and an outlet(30) formed at one side, an impeller(60) mounted inside the housing to rotate by an external motor(50) and including a spiral part projected to the outside of the inlet so as to suck fluid or sludge easily, a cut groove(70) formed by cutting the outer circumference in a constant space so as to crush foreign materials when fluid or sludge is sucked in by the impeller.
