A method for driving a discharge display panel wherein a driving waveform of a first reset period varies is provided to allow space charges and wall charges to be disappeared based on a pause period in display cells by utilizing the pause period where no discharge is generated. In a driving method of a discharge display panel, the number of sustain pulses of sustain periods is controlled in proportion to gray scale weighted values of sub-fields and not in proportion to an average gray scale of respective gray scales. A driving waveform of a reset period of a first sub-field periodically varies for every frame. The discharge display panel(1) includes scan, sustain, and address electrode lines, and display cells. The scan and sustain electrodes(X1-Xn,Y1-Yn) are alternately disposed in parallel to each other. The address electrodes(AR1-ABm) are formed to cross with the scan and sustain electrodes and the display cells are formed at the cross sections.
