A medium thickness detecting device of an automatic medium dispenser is provided to prevent a thickness detection error caused by position adjustment of a shielding plate and a thickness sensor, and to adjust relative position of the shielding plate and thickness sensor without disassembling the dispenser, and to prevent the relative position of the shielding plate and thickness sensor from being changed by external environmental factors. A medium thickness detecting device of an automatic medium dispenser comprises a main frame(60), a detecting roller shaft(70) provided at the main frame and including a rotating roller(73), a detecting frame(80) fixed to the main frame and having a component chamber inside, a thickness detecting unit(90) provided in the component chamber of the detecting frame and including a detecting bearing(91) rotated by movement of a medium and a shielding plate(93) to shield light irradiated to one surface thereof partially, and a thickness sensor(100) sensing the thickness of the medium by change of light caused by the shielding plate.
