A method and an apparatus for allocating resources through variable-size resource units in a mobile communication system are provided to maximize frequency selection scheduling gain while minimizing signaling overheads in allocating resources in an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system. A terminal comprises a receiving part(701) and a resource acquisition part(704). The receiving part comprises an information receiving part and a data receiving part. The information receiving part receives resource unit information which denotes a resource unit allocated to the terminal. The resource acquisition part acquires the whole resources, allocated to the terminal, from the received resource unit information. The data receiving part receives data through the acquired whole resources.
