PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-and-cold-water mixing valve enabling an assured switching between cutout and flow and an assured change and adjustment of a mixing ratio by a simple structure. SOLUTION: A cold water inlet hole 23 and a hot water inlet hole 24 are opened in the inner surface 213 of one end wall 211 of a housing 2 symmetrically with respect to an axis X. Oppositely to these inlet holes, a disk valve element 4 is disposed in a mixing chamber 3 to be rotatably driven around the axis X. A projecting flat surface 421 fully closing one of the cold water inlet hole and the hot water inlet hole and a recessed flat surface 422 fully opening the other opening are formed on and in the front surface of the valve element. Also, a sloped surface continuously tilts from the projecting flat surface to the recessed flat surface while uniformly tilting to both sides in the circumferential direction is formed in the front surface of the valve element. The supply pressure of a hot water is introduced, as a back pressure, into piston members 74a, 74b through back pressure introduction holes 73a, 73b to cancel the supply pressure. A pressing force from the piston members is transmitted to the valve element through ball members 83, 83, ... to eliminate friction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
