Reinforcing insert for prosthetic foot has a sandwich construction for flexibility and support

An improved reinforcing insert for a prosthetic foot has a shaped main section with a sandwich construction to simulate the flexibility of a normal foot without loosing support. The upper and/or lower layers are reinforced with fibers, e.g. carbon fibers and with a plastic core layer which can include a foamed section. The upper and/or lower layers can also include a matrix of thermoplastic such as polyamide. The insert is coated with plastic foam shaped as a normal foot.
