A lock nut is provided to prevent the release thereof without damaging the threads of an axial rod or a screw rod by using a soft material as a filler. A lock nut(1) includes a filler(2) and a mood bolt(3). A method of forming the lock nut includes the steps of boring a small hole at a predetermined position of an outer circumference of a nut body, forming a female thread on the inner surface of the small hole, press-fitting the filler, which is made of relatively soft material such as copper or aluminum, into an end of the threaded small hole, forming a female thread on an inner periphery of the nut body, and driving a conventional mood bolt into the threaded small hole.
