<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time from when the content acquisition is completed until a sub-system is started, when acquiring a content through a network. <P>SOLUTION: A medium type list of the contents provided by a server is acquired from a server side (step S401-S403), and the required sub-system is started (step S404) before requesting the content (step S405). The computer resources not used before acquiring the content can be utilized for the sub-system, thereby eliminating a time required for starting the sub-system after acquiring the content.
