An RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) device for controlling power supply depending on connection with a host device is provided to use no battery for a nonuse state of the RFID device by cutting off the power supply of the battery embedded in the RFID device when a host is not connected with the RFID device. An RFID connector(212) connects with a host connector for data interface, and an RF transceiver(216) performs data communication with an RFID tag. A microprocessor(214) communicates data with a host through the RFID connector and receives tag information from the RFID tag through the RF transceiver. A battery(218) provides a predetermined voltage level. A power supply controller(219) supplies or cuts off voltage provided to the microprocessor or the RF transceiver from the battery depending on connection between the RFID connector and the host connector. The power supply controller includes a switching circuit supplying or cutting off the voltage provided to the microprocessor or the RF transceiver from the battery depending on the connection between the RFID connector and the host connector, and a capacitor charged based on the voltage output from the switching circuit. |
