The invention relates to a device for the surface peening, especially ult rasonic shot-peening of a partial element (36) of a component (10) of a gas turbine. According to said method, the partial element (36) and at least one surface (54) of a vibration device (56) impinging the blasting material are positioned relative to each other, the surface (54) of the at least one vib ration device (56) and a sealing fin (36) being positioned relative to each other at an angle (.alpha.) between 70° and 90° based on the direction of ex tension (E) of the sealing fin. The invention also relates to a device for c arrying out said method.
