PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens performance evaluating device and a lens performance evaluation method for evaluating lens performance appropriately by removing the effect of deterioration in luminance amplitude automatically. SOLUTION: The lens performance evaluating device extracts a predetermined number of pieces of luminance amplitude from pieces (A', C') of larger luminance amplitude sequentially to evaluate the lens performance appropriately by removing the influence of the deterioration in the luminance amplitude, and averages the predetermined number of pieces of luminance amplitude to evaluate the lens performance.
