<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inkjet recording paper which keeps printing density high and shows no uneven print density even when either dye ink or pigment ink is used by inkjet recording. <P>SOLUTION: In the inkjet recording paper keeping a substrate overlaid with at least one ink receiving layer and a glossy layer overlying the ink receiving layer, the glossy layer comprises acetoacetylated polyvinyl alcohol and a water retention agent. As the water retention agent, cellulose derivatives are preferable, and an aldehyde-modified hydroxyethyl cellulose is more preferable.
