<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately set the optimum amplitude of an AC current in a short period of time, the AC current being to be supplied to a charging member for charging a body to be charged. <P>SOLUTION: For four AC currents Iacla to 4a having different amplitude, a charging information detection part successively detects a differential charge quantity ΔQ (1a to 4a) related to the AC currents Iacla to 4a at the time when the position (x) and the position (y) of the charging member come in contact with an image holding body during twice rotation of the charging member. Both of ¾tilt 13a¾ and ¾tilt 24a¾ are equal to or below ¾m1¾, then, an amplitude setting part 98 sets each amplitude of AC currents Iaclb to 4b newly output from an AC power supply larger than that of the AC current Iac4a. ¾tilt 24b¾ is equal to or exceeding ¾m2¾, while ¾tilt 13b¾ is larger than ¾m1¾ and smaller than ¾m2¾. The amplitude setting part 98 sets an amplitude setting signal for setting the AC current Iac by regarding the mean value of the AC current Iac corresponding to the tilt 13b as an optimum value with reference to an amplitude changing part 100. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
