PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication method and an authentication device which enable a user to use it easily and which can eliminate external wiring used for power supply. SOLUTION: The authentication method, which authenticates the user who operates a pulling part, is provided with a first step and a second step. The first step is for generating electricity in response to the operation performed on the pulling part. In the second step, a control part is started up in response to the supply of power generated in the first step. Then the second step obtains the information unique to the user in a manner that the user is not required to perform any authentication operation, and performs the authentication operation regarding the propriety of use by the user.
