TRANSPARENT FABRIC SOFTENING COMPOSITION

A transparent fabric softener composition is provided to improve dispersion and the storage stability according to temperature change with reducing the amount of a main solvent and to decrease base smell. A fabric softener composition comprises 5-50 wt% of a cationic softening component (cationic surfactant); 5-45 wt% of a main solvent; and 0.1-5 wt% of an N-alkylpyrrolidone represented by the formula 1 as a main solvent extender, wherein n is an integer of 5-14. Preferably the cationic softening component comprises at least one selected from the quaternary ammonium salts represented by the formula 2 or 3 and its precursors, wherein R is independently a C1-C6 alkyl group, a C1-C6 hydroxyalkyl group or a benzyl group; R1 is a C11-C22 linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group; Q is (R2O)x-P; R2 is a C1-C3 alkyl group; P is independently -O-C(=O)-, -C(=O)-O-, -NH-CO- or -CO-NH-; X is Cl-, Br- or CH2OSO3-; m is 1-3; n is 1-4; and x is 0-4.
