<p>A method for cutting carbon nanotubes is provided to produce the cut carbon nanotubes having short length, uniform size, and opened ends on a large scale by a simple process. A method for cutting carbon nanotubes includes the steps of: preparing a pie-stacking complex solution comprising a doping metal, a non-polar molecule, and a dipolar solvent; adding carbon nanotubes to the pie-stacking complex solution, and stirring the admixture at ambient temperature to prepare a metal-doped carbon nanotube solution; washing and drying the metal-doped carbon nanotube solution to prepare a metal-doped carbon nanotube powder; and treating the metal-doped carbon nanotube powder with a nitric acid solution to cut the carbon nanotubes, and washing the resultant with distilled water. Further, the doping metal is selected from a group consisting of lithium, sodium and potassium.</p> |
