A control system for an elevator has landing call registration devices provided at landing floors and capable of being operated at the landing floors; an automatic landing call registration section for setting as a car call floor a landing floor where the landing call registration device has been operated and causing any one of cars to stop at the car call floor; a response selection section for selecting as a selected elevator an elevator device responding to the car call registration; a passenger movement time calculation section for defining as a selected doorway an elevator doorway provided at the car call floor of the selected elevator and calculating a passenger movement time period corresponding to the selected doorway; and an open/close control section for controlling opening and closing of the selected doorway based on information from the selected elevator and from the passenger movement time calculation section. When the selected doorway is already in a door open state, the open/close control section keeps the door open state of the selected doorway until the passenger movement time has passed after car call registration is made.
