PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make smooth the flow of a lubricating oil in a one-way clutch having a shell outer ring of U-shape in cross section. SOLUTION: This one-way clutch comprises the outer ring 1 of U-shape in cross section in which an outer peripheral part 1c and a pair of side walls 1a, 1b are bent, sprags 2 disposed in the outer ring 1, and a garter spring 3 biasing the sprags 2. Oil holes 10a, 10b extending through the outer ring 1 and gradually tilting from the inner diameter side to the outer diameter side starting at the inside of the outer ring 1 toward the outside. Since the oil holes 10a, 10b are tilted, the lubricating oil is guided to the outside of the outer ring 1 through the oil holes 10a, 10b by the action of the centrifugal force, and the flow of the lubricating oil can be made smooth. Also, foreign matters are easily discharged since the oil holes 10a, 10b are positioned on the outermost diameter part. Consequently, the oil holes 10a, 10b function as the escape space and the bending start point of the thick wall part during the bending, and the molding properties of the outer ring 1 are enhanced.
