<p>Disclosed are compositions and methods of generating and expanding tissue-progenitor cells or mature tissue cells in culture, comprising culturing intact bone marrow or intact umbilical cord tissue in a cell differentiation medium whereby tissue-progenitor cells or mature tissue cells are generated from mesenchymal stem cells and various progenitor cells present in the intact bone marrow or intact umbilical cord tissue and expanded, and methods of using the tissue- progenitor cells or mature tissue cells in processes of tissue repair or regeneration.</p>
