PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkyl ether by which the alkyl ether such as ethyl t-butyl ether (ETBE) can be synthesized easily in a short time at a low cost without requiring excessive energy. SOLUTION: The method for producing the alkyl ether by reacting a 1-6C aliphatic alcohol with a 2-6C olefin includes bringing the 1-6C aliphatic alcohol into contact with the 2-6C olefin in the presence of a catalyst at 40-120°C by heating them with the microwave to react them.
