PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the connection of portable electronic equipment provided with a shared terminal port to an external device simpler. SOLUTION: This signal adapter is provided with: a first terminal connected to the shared terminal port provided in the portable electronic equipment; and a second terminal connected to a connection terminal provided in the external device. The first terminal is provided with an electrode for discrimination for transmitting and receiving a discrimination signal showing a terminal type, and an electrode for signal transmission and reception. The second terminal is provided with an electrode for discrimination, an electrode for a USB communication signal and an electrode for a sound signal, or the like. Opening/closing first to third switches in accordance with the type of a signal selected by a user, switches the validity/invalidity of a signal path and the electrode for discrimination.
