PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing optical communication with the other device and suppressing a misoperation. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus (sublimation type printer) comprises an infrared detector 13a for detecting an infrared light emitted from the other device, a display LED 12 which is disposed in the vicinity of the infrared detector 13a and is adapted to emit a light for display, and a light shading rib 32a interposed between the infrared detector 13a and the display LED 12.
