A liquid crystal display apparatus and a fabrication method thereof are provided to block incident light to a semiconductor layer without an additional process by forming light blocking metal on the semiconductor layer. A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a gate electrode(112a), a common electrode(126a), a semiconductor layer(116), a data line(118), a source electrode and a drain electrode(120), a pixel electrode(124), and a light blocking metal pattern(132). The gate electrode is protruded from a gate line. The common electrode is branched from a common line. The semiconductor layer is formed on the upper side of the gate electrode. The data line intersects with the gate line to define a pixel area. The drain electrode is located with interval from the source electrode. The pixel electrode is electrically connected to the drain electrode. The light blocking metal pattern covers the semiconductor layer. |
