<p>A gas turbine comprising: a rotor shaft; a series of rotor blades that extend generally radially outwardly from the rotor shaft; and a casing that circumferentially surrounds the series of rotor blades, wherein directly radially outward of the rotor blades the casing includes a series of cooling apertures that extend from the exterior to the interior of the casing and form lines on the casing that traverse the circumferential direction around the casing, in use of the gas turbine a cooling fluid being supplied to the cooling apertures from the exterior of the casing, the fluid emerging in the interior of the casing to form a cooling film on the interior wall of the casing in the region of the rotor blades.</p> |
